SharpTake
SharpTake makes advanced college sports analytics easier to explore and put into context.
The story
The numbers are interesting. Understanding them is the point.
I follow college sports closely. On message boards, I kept running into people who could talk fluently about advanced statistics while the rest of us were left trying to work out what those numbers actually meant.
I built the first version for myself, beginning with college basketball matchup analysis and transfer portal evaluation. It gave me a way to bring the data together and ask better questions without needing to become a statistics expert.
I later expanded SharpTake into football, adding matchup analysis, modeling, predictions, and other ways to understand what the data says about a game. After sharing it with others, I decided to make it public. That decision also led me to form Sycamore Labs.
